WaveLab 8.5.31 64-bit Hotfix 247 MB. The WaveLab 8.5.3.1 64-bit Hotfix addresses an incompatibility issue with OneDrive by Microsoft, that causes WaveLab 8.5 64-bit to crash on startup. 32-bit installations of WaveLab 8.5 are not affected! In case the hotfix is being used as a full installer, the latest eLicenser Control Center needs to.

I found on the MS support pages, the SDK 2.0 download that installs Windows Installer, so I installed it with a hotfix that didn't require the installer. I had to de-register and re-register msiserver after making sure the System had 'Full Control' ofthat registry key/subkeys. I did all of this 2x. The first time I hadn't merged a new set of instructions into the registry for msiserver; apparently something was screwed up there too. I copied/pasted fresh instructions onto notepad and saved it as a regfile; which then mergeded nicely. And so it goes.
Anyway, a flood of updates began to install like magic as well as me installing some utility software that I never could get loaded. But what about the update to the Steinberg WaveLab 8 you ask? Today I got depressed when that update was almostcompletely installed and then it rolled back giving me the installer middle-finger, if you will, by the appearance of the same error message: 'Error could not change registry data'.
So I don't know you guys, I'm getting despondent. No one else is postingthat error message anywhere, especially in the Steinberg Forum. In fact, the support personnel at Steinberg don't have a suggestion. Hi Ryan,As of now we will keep the Windows 7 reinstall as the last option. Let us try these steps and check the status:Step1.I would suggest you to perform SFC scan and check if that helps. TheSFC /scannow command scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions. For more information how to do SFC/ scan on Windows Vista and Windows 7, please follow this link:Step2.Run a full computer scan with Microsoft Safety Scanner to make sure that the computer is virus free.Microsoft Safety Scanner:Safety Scanner Disclaimer: There could be a loss of data while performing a scan using Microsoft safety scanner to eliminate virus if any.Thanks.
